"Don't cry," he said.
Anguish is heard in his plea.
"Please... It breaks my heart," he confirms.
His shoulders dropped, his head bowed down.
"I don't understand why you are crying.
Have i done something that hurt you?
Am I not making you happy?
Am I not loving you enough?"
The sudden rush of doubts overwhelmed him.
"I'm sorry," i whispered.
Then words choke me to silence.
"I don't want you to feel that way,
But I can't help but succumb.
How can i tell you, my beloved
That the tears freely fall for every unspoken word
Of how grateful I am that you love me this much?
That the tears gently come for every memory
Of how wonderful you are and how wonderful you make me feel?
That the tears fiercely flow for every fear
Of losing you?
Because one day, the love we share
Will just be a memory;
Because one day, the reality we dread
Will take you away from me,
Because you were never mine."
"I'm sorry," he said
As he wipes every tear with a kiss.
"It will be alright," he assures.
I looked to his eyes and saw his love.
The love he gives me tenderly.
The love that makes me always hope
Always trust, always persevere.
Then suddenly, I'm fine.
The tears stopped flowing,
Because his love is enough for me.
